This evening’s Test is the 20th clash between Ireland and the Springboks, with the current match record reading: Ireland won 4, South Afica won 14 and drawn 1.

Centre Gordon D’Arcy will win his 50th Ireland cap on the day, while winger Luke Fitzgerald ends his 12-month injury-enforced absence from Test rugby and prop Tom Court could make it an extra special 30th birthday for himself with an appearance off the bench.

The South African matchday squad includes Ulster scrum half Ruan Pienaar, former Munster centre Jean de Villiers and ex-Leinster prop CJ van der Linde.

Ireland have won their last three Tests against the ‘Boks, at Lansdowne Road in November 2004 and November 2006 and twelve months ago at Croke Park.

We will have live text commentary direct from the resplendent Aviva Stadium as Ireland look to kickstart the international season on a winning note.

So plug in the laptop or turn on the PC and enjoy a flavour of today’s game live on IrishRugby.ie with thanks to O2, sponsors of MatchDay Live.

There will be full live text and score updates throughout the coverage as Declan Kidney’s charges take on a South African side that had a disappointing run of results in the recent Tri Nations.
