At the launch of the CARI/Shannon draw, Anne Byrnes, a Senior Development Executive with CARI, outlined CARI’s role.

“We are a voluntary organisation that relies heavily on the generosity of the public to finance our therapy services,” she said.

“Over 60% of our income comes in through fundraising events like this raffle that we are doing in association with Shannon RFC.

“All funds raised by CARI from this raffle will go directly towards financing our therapy services at our Limerick centre which is based on the Ennis Road.”

Also at the launch was Shannon RFC Chairman Jack Keane who reiterated the importance of the venture to both organisations.

“CARI offer an excellent service and their association with child welfare is something that we in Shannon RFC are fully supportive of,” said Keane.

“We cater for almost 500 underage players and we are delighted to be associated with such a proactive organisation such as CARI.”

Also on hand to launch the joint raffle was Shannon RFC captain Mossie Lawlor, Frank Mc Namara from CARI and Shannon, Munster and Ireland hooker Jerry Flannery.
