Gleeson And Coughlan Included In Munster ‘A’ Side

Munster have included two of their Ireland Sevens internationals, Tom Gleeson and James Coughlan, in their ‘A’ squad for Friday’s game against Ulster ‘A’ at Shaw’s Bridge (kick-off 2.30pm).

Tom Gleeson, fresh from playing at last week’s Rugby World Cup Sevens, has been named in the Munster ‘A’ starting line-up while his Sevens colleague James Coughlan is listed amongst the replacements.

The Ulster and Munster ‘A’ sides were due to meet last month but snow forced the cancellation of that game.

The most recent outing for Munster ‘A’ was against their Leinster counterparts last month.

In a game played at Waterpark RFC, Munster beat Leinster 39-6 with the help of a brace of tries from Scott Deasy who will form a youthful centre partnership with Gleeson at Shaw’s Bridge.

Meanwhile, the bad news for Munster is that winger Ciaran O’Boyle, a try scorer in both his recent Magners League games, will be sidelined for at least eight weeks after tearing a hamstring in the game against the Dragons last Saturday.

The Munster ‘A’ squad to travel to Belfast includes five members of the Munster Rugby Academy and two players from the sub-academy.

MUNSTER ‘A’: Denis Hurley; Anthony Horgan, Scott Deasy*, Tom Gleeson, Kieran Lewis; Jeremy Manning, Mike Prendergast; Darragh Hurley, Michael Essex, Tim Ryan, Dave Foley*, Donnacha Ryan, Billy Holland, Niall Ronan, Nick Williams.

Replacements: Mike Sherry~, Dave Ryan*, James Coughlan, Tommy O’Donnell*, Kieran Essex*, Duncan Williams, Finbar Aherne~.
