Estate agents RE/MAX have announced their sponsorship of four of Leinster’s major club competitions. The company’s Operations Manager Michael Cahill tells IrishRugby.ie about the deal.
IrishRugby.ie: So Michael, how did RE/MAX’s sponsorship of these Leinster competitions – the Junior 1 Metropolitan League, the Leinster League, the Provincial Towns Cup and the Metropolitan Cup – come about?
Michael Cahill: Initial contact was made between the Leinster Branch and our Donnybrook office. Mark Campbell, our Regional Director, and myself have a strong interest in rugby at all levels, including playing for Naas RFC in the past, and we felt it would be beneficial for both parties.
IR: How can RE/MAX’s sponsorship benefit both the company and Leinster’s clubs?
MC: Because of these links and the fact that we have 44 offices across Leinster (and 76 countrywide), with a presence in most of the major towns in Leinster which also happen to have a rugby club, we saw the sponsorship as a very good fit and a way to increase the exposure for both RE/MAX and rugby at a local level.
IR: What are the specific details of RE/MAX’s sponsosrship of the competitions?
MC: The specifics are that we are committed for three years and that the competitions will be known as the RE/MAX Junior 1 Metropolitan League, the RE/MAX Leinster League, the RE/MAX Provincial Towns Cup and the RE/MAX Metropolitan Cup.
RE/MAX Ireland and each office are committed 100% to this deal and will be promoting the competitions locally with Leinster Rugby promoting RE/MAX.

IR: How have the clubs and the Leinster Branch reacted to the news of the sponsorship?
MC: The response has been very positive as they see the benefits of having a local sponsor, with a recognisable international brand, rather than just a corporate one, and they are also delighted to see a company such as ours being associated with Junior rugby in the province.
IR: Do RE/MAX plan on any more rugby-related sponsorships?
MC: As we’ve said, we are committed for three years, but yes, we will certainly look at rugby-related sponsorships in the future.
IR: How did the launch go for you?
MC: The launch was excellent. Special thanks to Naas RFC for hosting it. There was a great turnout from both the clubs and the RE/MAX offices with everyone giving their 100% backing and commitment to the sponsorship.
