The visitors led 11-3 – thanks to an early Peter Swatkins try and penalty brace from Giles Pryor – but Belvedere loosehead prop Cian Healey muscled over late on to reduce England’s lead to a single point by the break, with Castleknock fly-half Brian Collins converting.

Fleet-footed Artemiev ran England’s rearguard ragged on the restart as he darted in for two tries – the second of which was converted by Collins, who was operating behind a now dominant pack of forwards.

His half-back partner Adam Bartholomew (Royal School Armagh) – who set up Artemiev’s second – then rounded off a pleasing outing for the Irish youngsters – who face Wales next Saturday – with a late try off a blindside scrum snipe.
