Ireland Men’s Sevens Battle For Bronze In Cape Town

Ireland Men’s Sevens, sponsored by TritonLake, will go head-to-head with Fiji for HSBC SVNS Series bronze in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon.

James Topping‘s side were edged out by Argentina in a physical semi-final contest earlier, losing 26-19 at DHL Stadium, but they still have a chance of ending a positive weekend with their first medal of the 2024 Series when they take on Fiji in the third place play-off at 4.10pm Irish time.

After topping their Pool with three wins from three on Saturday, Ireland produced a clinical performance in their last eight tie against the All Blacks Sevens on Sunday morning, running in six tries, including a hat-trick for Terry Kennedy, in a 36-21 triumph.

It was the first time Ireland Men have beaten New Zealand on the Series.
