October 2019 Energia All-Ireland League Try Of The Month Winners Announced

The Men’s and Women’s #EnergiaAILTry Of The Month winners for October 2019 have been announced. Jenni Burke’s try for Blackrock College against Galwegians in the opening round is a worthy winner for the Women’s Energia All-Ireland League while the men’s award goes to Scott Finlay for his role in Malone’s superb effort against Banbridge in Division 1B.

Both winners receive €250 with thanks to Energia, title sponsors of the Energia All-Ireland League. They also go forward for the Try Of The Season award.

Burke showed good support and acceleration to score at Stradbrook, but the credit for Blackrock’s try must go to Hannah O’Connor. The number 8 collected a kick-off and danced from her own 10 metre line up to the 22 with a stunning kick-fake along the way. O’Connor went on to make her Ireland debut against Wales last week.

Scott Finlay was one of four players involved in Malone’s award winning try. October 19th was a good day all round for the Creggagh Red Sox as they bagged their first win in Division 1B of the Energia All-Ireland League for new Head Coach Chris Henry.

Ryan Clarke started the move with a break in midfield before switching inside to second row partner Matthew Dalton. Dalton, is in his third year with the Ulster Rugby Academy, scooped an offload to the onrushing Connor Spence to dink through for Finlay’s diving finish.

Entries for the November Try Of The Month award are now open. Click here for entry regulations.
