Connacht prop Peter Bracken has agreed to join NEC Harlequins at the end of the season – bolstering the Zurich Premiership club’s quota of Irishmen to six.

Since former Ireland captain Keith Wood’s move from Garryowen to ‘Quins back in 1996, many an Irishman has seen action at the Stoop with the Mark Evans-coached side currently boasting Gavin Duffy, Jeremy Staunton, Andy Dunne, Simon Keogh and Mel Deane on their books.

Tullamore-born tight-head Bracken – who has made 17 appearances for Connacht this season, including six in the European Challenge Cup – is joining ‘Quins on a two-year deal.

“I have always wanted to play in the Premiership and am really looking forward to it,” he admitted.

“I have had four great seasons at Connacht and nothing would give me more pleasure than to see the province make it to the Heineken Cup.”
