Galwegians went to the top of the AIB League Division One table following their 24-14 win over Belfast Harlequins at Deramore Park on Saturday.
They took a maximum five points from their visit north after scoring four tries. Nigel Carolan open their account late in the opening half after the home side had been reduced to 14 with the dismissal of Richie Weir. Galwegians scored two more second tries before Harlequins struck back with a brace of tries but on the final whistle John Cleary scored his second try to ensure maximum points.

Ballymena’s winning start to the season came to an end in Stradbrook when they were beaten 22-19 by the Emmet Farrell inspired home side. Ballymena trailed 13 at half time but staged a brave fight-back to go in front, 19-15, as the game entered the closing stages. Then however, their discipline let them down – they had two players sin-binned – and Farrell scored a late try, which he also converted, to snatch a victory that moves them to fourth place in the table.

An injury time penalty from Dungannon out half Mark Armstrong gave his side a 20-19 win over St Mary’s College at Stevenson Park. Armstrong scored all his side’s points, his sole try coming in the 666th minute to set up a frantic finish against a visiting side that had been reduced to 13 with two sin-binnings.

In Division Two Dolphin made it four wins from four outings when they accounted for Musgrave Park co-tenants 24-13 a defeat that pushes Sunday’s Well to second last spot in the table.

In Division Three Waterpark hold the top spot after maintaining their 100% record after their 27-14 win over Ballina at Ballinakill while Instonians are also undefeated in this division, their latest win. 33-6 at home against Naas.
