Irish Rugby TV: Eric Miller On Seapoint’s Christmas Cracker

Seapoint RFC Head Coach Eric Miller says there’s a positive mood in his squad heading into the final AIL fixture of 2018. They welcome fellow Dubliners Malahide to Kilbogget Park on Friday evening hoping to move closer to safety in Division 2C.

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Seapoint, sitting bottom in the division with seven points from eight games. Miller says there’s plenty of time to turn things around.

“It only takes one or two games,” says the former Leinster, Ireland and Lions back-row. “It’s an ebb and flow league. It has been for the last number of years and once you get on a run, things start going your way. We’re a club that’s blooding a lot of new players and we’ve been able to give opportunities to guys who wouldn’t ordinarily get them earlier in the season.”

Seapoint recently celebrated their 40th anniversary after a narrow home defeat to Bangor. Their coach is hopeful that the timing of their derby against Malahide will add to the atmosphere.

“It’s obviously the game before Christmas so you expect a big crowd down for that. Friday night games are always a good buzz around the place.

It’s a well-known club and it’s a club that’s been known to be very hospitable. It’s a very good community club that always makes people feel welcome and I love being a part of something like that.”
