Old Belvedere Back On Top

Old Belvedere’s second bonus point win over the season over Shannon moved them back to the top of Ulster Bank League Division 1A.

With both Shannon and Old Belvedere losing last weekend, there was a huge competitive edge to this game at Coonagh.

Ben Woods and David Mongan chalked up tries for Old Belvedere inside the opening ten minutes as Phil Werahiko's charges looked to bounce back from their narrow loss to Young Munster.

Paul Rowley touched down for the hosts, but by the 30-minute mark 'Belvo were 22-5 to the good. Man-of-the-match Conal Keane kicked a penalty for the visitors and centre John Kennedy added a third try.

Mossie Lawlor notched a penalty to leave 14 points between the sides at the break.

But Keane dominated the exchanges from the out-half position for 'Belvo and although Shannon added further tries through Kevin Griffin and David Quinlan for a 23-22 scoreline, the bonus point was secured by Old Belvedere full-back Daniel Riordan.

Referee: John Carvill (IRFU)
