Connacht Cruise Through To Last-Eight

Connacht maintained their 100% record in this season’s Amlin Challenge Cup, beating Olympus Rugby Madrid 66-0 in Spain. Michael Bradley’s men are the only team in the 44 competing in Europe to have won all of their pool games.

Connacht ran in ten tries in all as they tore Olympus Rugby Madrid apart and eased through to the Amlin Challenge Cup’s last-eight as top seeds.

The westerners notched four tries in the opening half to seal a bonus point by half-time with Fionn Carr, Niva Ta’auso, Adrian Flavin and John Muldoon all crossing.

They continued to press for scores in the second half and the large Connacht following witnessed another six tries with Flavin getting his second, followed by Miah Nikora, Mike McComish and George Naoupu.

Ireland ‘A’ centre Keith Matthews finished with a brace of tries before the end, as Connacht turn their attentions to a home draw in the quarter-finals.
