Ireland Men Build Momentum On World Cup’s Opening Day

The Ireland Men (sponsored by TritonLake) scored seven tries and conceded just one as they progressed to the quarter-final stage of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.

James Topping’s charges were victorious against Portugal (24-12) and England (17-5), those results setting up a much-anticipated showdown with hosts South Africa in tonight’s last-eight (kick-off 10.33pm local time/9.33pm Irish time).

The winners of that game will meet either New Zealand or Argentina in Sunday’s Championship semi-finals, while the losing sides will battle it out in the 5th-8th place bracket.

All of Ireland’s games are live on the RTÉ Player in the Republic of Ireland, and there will be coverage across Irish Rugby social media channels and on IrishRugby.ie. A full list of broadcasters is available here.
