Emerging Ireland Visit Heidedal Children’s Orphanage In Bloemfontein

The Emerging Ireland squad re-visited Heidedal Children’s Orphanage in Bloemfontein on Monday afternoon ahead of the final game of the three-match series against The Cheetahs on Wednesday evening.

The players and management interacted with children from the township and played games and donated toys, gifts and food and assorted other household items that will help sustain the children and staff. The Orphanage houses, cares and educates children on the outskirts of Bloemfontein, and a donation issued on the 2022 visit supported the building of a new housing unit at the centre.

Commenting on the trip to Heidedal, Emerging Ireland Head Coach Simon Easterby said: “As a group we are delighted to visit Heidedal once more. Speaking from my own experience, the memories from our visit last time will stay with me forever and we were determined to make time on this trip to see the progress around the building of the infrastructure has developed.

“Community visits like this remind us of the important things in life and it was inspiring to see so much positivity amidst the challenges of everyday life for the people across this community. On behalf of the players and management, I’d like to express our thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome once more.”
