Bronze Medal Reward For Ireland Men In Cape Town

The Ireland Men (sponsored by TritonLake) rounded off an unforgettable Rugby World Cup Sevens campaign with a thrilling 19-14 play-off triumph over Australia to win bronze.

16th seeds at the last World Cup, Ireland secured a ninth place finish back then in San Francisco. Roll on four years and James Topping’s side – ranked ninth coming to Cape Town – have secured a prized podium finish.

A Sean Cribbin try drew them level with the newly-crowned World Series champions, before Terry Kennedy did likewise in the second half and then Harry McNulty crossed for a 13th-minute match winner.

The Ireland Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams wore their brand new Canterbury kit for the World Cup in Cape Town. Click here to buy the new jerseys online from Intersport Elverys.
