Pat Casey RIP

The Committee and staff of the IRFU extend their condolences to the fmaily and friends of former Ireland international Pat Casey who passed away after a long illness.

Pat, who started his rugby in CBC Monkstown before playing for UCD, and Lansdowne, where he was a much loved member of the club and of their Hall of Fame. He made his Ireland debut in 1963 against France and won a total of twelve caps, scoring three tries along the way.

His most spectacular try came against England in 1964 when he finished a move started by Mick Gibson as Ireland won 18-5. He also scored an equally brilliant try for Leinster against the All Blacks in the same year.
