Scrum Half Murphy Joins Munster On Short-Term Deal

Ireland Under-20 scrum half Ben Murphy has joined Munster on a seven-week deal.

A member of the Leinster sub-Academy, Murphy linked up with the Munster squad at the High Performance Centre in Limerick today.

The teenage son of Ireland skills & kicking coach Richie Murphy provides injury cover with Neil Cronin ruled out due to a long-term knee injury.

With Conor Murray on international duty, Craig Casey and Nick McCarthy are the province’s only two scrum halves available for selection.

Meanwhile, ahead of Saturday’s Guinness PRO14 clash with Benetton Rugby, Jean Kleyn trained fully today having been replaced during the Dragons game with a knock.

Darren Sweetnam (knee) will be assessed as the week goes on. Chris Cloete missed the win over the Dragons with a neck injury but is not expected to be a long-term absentee.

Front rowers Rhys Marshall and Roman Salanoa are rehabbing respective low-grade thigh injuries.

Dan Goggin underwent a scan on his shoulder last week and continues to rehab with the medical department.
