Sustaining Irish Rugby Forum – First Reaction

IRFU Director of Rugby Development Colin McEntee is hopeful that today’s Sustaining Irish Rugby Forum will lead to improved collaboration with clubs in future proofing the sport.

The event saw clubs from across the four provinces gather to address how to make rugby more sustainable in a changing society.

“It’s a start,” he told Irish Rugby TV in the above video.

“We need to reflect on this ourselves. We need to gather the feedback from all the attendees and keep connected to our game and to see where we’re going forward.”

The event also brought together a host of industry experts to paint a picture of what the future holds from the sporting perspectives of society, participation, energy and strategy.

“I hope it’s the first of many,” says McEntee.

“Most of the solutions are in the room as we heard today. That sharing and networking is powerful stuff.”

A more in-depth look back on the inaugural Sustaining Irish Rugby Forum will be available in the coming days.
