Munster Announce Three-Year Contract Extension For Kleyn

Munster Rugby and the IRFU have confirmed that Jean Kleyn has signed a three-year contract extension which will see him remain with the province until June 2022.

Jean Kleyn joined Munster just over two years ago and made his debut for the province in September 2016. The powerful 25-year-old lock has scored six tries in 42 appearances for the province so far.

Born in Krugersdorp, South Africa, Kleyn earned his first Munster Player of the Year nomination last season after an outstanding campaign that saw him make 25 appearances across the GUINNESS PRO14 and the Champions Cup, including 23 starts.

Speaking to Munster Rugby TV about his contract extension, Kleyn said: “I came over here two years ago intent on making my mark at Munster. Now I’ve got another three years here, I’m delighted. I’m very happy to sign and glad to get it out of the way so early.

“I’m just glad to show my commitment towards Munster. I’ve been treated exceptionally well since I’ve arrived at the province, from the players to the staff to the coaches to the fans. The fans have received me exceptionally well and it’s a relationship I look forward to continuing. I’m delighted to have signed on, very happy.

“I’ve really enjoyed my move over here and I really enjoy playing rugby here. That makes life so much better, when you’re enjoying your rugby it makes everything better.”
