On The Road With The Ireland 7s – Episode 5 – Canada 7s

The fifth episode of the ‘On The Road with the Ireland 7s’ series is now live, as we focus on the Ireland Women’s impressive exploits at the recent Canadian leg of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series in Langford.

The Ireland Women’s Sevens team were in Langford, on Vancouver Island, earlier this month to compete at the Canada 7s, and we were with them as they managed the aspects of travel, enjoyed the town of Victoria, and fuelled up for two big days of Sevens rugby, competing against Spain, Australia, Canada, Fiji and France.

At a tournament which saw Lucy Mulhall and her team-mates claim their best ever finish of sixth since becoming World Series core team, we hear from the players as they describe how they pick themselves up after a defeat and how they are constantly striving for peak performances every time they pull on the green jersey.

We speak to top try scorer Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe on her highlights from the trip and hear from Eve Higgins on how the students in the squad balanced studying for their upcoming exams with training and preparing for the tournament.

Stacey Flood, who was one of the top overall performers over the weekend and was named on the HSBC Dream Team for Langford, tells us about the team’s favourite food spot in Victoria, while performance nutritionist Marcus Shortall gives an insight into how the players fuel up during a tournament week.
