Christmas Greetings From Philip Orr

As President of the Irish Rugby Football Union, I am delighted to wish all followers of Irish Rugby a very Happy Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year.

Christmas time and the dawning of 2018 represents the halfway mark in the rugby season, and at this juncture I am greatly fulfilled that Irish Rugby, in general, is in good order and that the second half of the season holds further rich promise.

To that end, and on behalf of all my colleagues in the IRFU, it is my hope that all players, coaches, referees, administrators, sponsors, volunteers and supporters derive every enjoyment throughout the remainder of the 2017/18 season.

We all share in eager anticipation of what awaits our various Ireland teams, together with the fortunes of our provincial sides and also, of course, in the action-packed schools, third level, club and women’s sectors.

Since being elected President last July, I have greatly enjoyed my extensive travels around the country attending various matches and functions.

In the New Year, I look forward to visiting many more rugby venues and clubs.

In the meantime, I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and also extend my New Year’s best wishes to everyone in our expansive Irish Rugby community.

Festive greetings,

Philip Orr
President – Irish Rugby Football Union
