Injured Goggin Could Be Out For Up To Five Months

After meeting with the specialist in Dublin, it has been confirmed that Munster’s Dan Goggin tore his posterior cruciate ligament and sprained his medial collateral ligament during last Friday’s GUINNESS PRO14 win over Benetton rugby.

Dan Goggin, the young Munster development centre, will be treated with a knee brace and is expected to be sidelined for four to five months depending on rehabilitation.

While it is a very disappointing start to the new campaign for the 22-year-old, he was remaining positive when tweeting today; “Great news after seeing the specialist, luckily avoiding going under the knife. Rehab and recovery plan underway. Hoping to be back as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, second row Gerbrandt Grobler, who is yet to make his competitive debut for Munster, has undergone surgery for the ankle injury he sustained during the pre-season victory Worcester Warriors two weeks ago. A return timeline will be reviewed once initial post-op healing is complete.
