‘Heartbreaking’ was how Ireland head coach Tom Tierney summed up the 21-5 loss to France in the final pool match of the Women’s Rugby World Cup at UCD last night.

Looking ahead now to the 5th-8th place play-off against familiar opponents Australia, Tom Tierney said: “We have to take it on the chin tonight but we’ll pack up and dust ourselves off, and the girls have another opportunity to play for Ireland on Tuesday.”
