WRWC 2017 Ticket Exchange Raises 10,000 Euro For Charity

Supporters attending the Women’s Rugby World Cup in UCD have raised 10,000 euro for the IRFU Charitable Trust in just two days, with over 700 tickets re-issued to fans through the WRWC 2017 Ticket Exchange Programme.

Women’s Rugby World Cup tickets are sold per venue and per day, not per match, and the ticket exchange allows those leaving venues for the day to donate tickets for re-issue to others seeking access to later games – with the IRFU Charitable Trust benefiting from the resale.

Discussing the success of the World Cup’s Ticket Exchange Programme, Tournament Director Garrett Tubridy said: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of the ticket exchange programme, which has raised €;10,000 so far for the IRFU Charitable Trust.

“Fans have been fantastic in returning the tickets they don’t intend using for later games, allowing more fans to support their teams and to get a taste of the top quality rugby action, while raising funding for injured players.

“There is a great spirit of rugby friendship thoughout the tournament, with fans from across the world enjoying the fanzone and the carnival atmosphere of the games.

“So far over 700 additional fans have accessed sold-out games through the ticket exchange programme, and with a crucial round of matches coming on day three in UCD tomorrow, we are confident that more fundraising can be achieved through ticket exchange.”
