Ireland winger Hannah Tyrrell spoke to Irish Rugby TV as she reflected on how the team ground out a 24-14 victory over Japan, which sets up a mouth-watering WRWC 2017 Pool C decider with France on Thursday night.
The Ireland Women had to overcome poor first half performance that saw them 14 points down against Japan, but they came good during the final half-an-hour as tries from Alison Miller and Paula Fitzpatrick (2) got the job done.
In the aftermath of the game, Hannah Tyrrell admitted: “We made too many unforced errors and we needed to play a bit more direct. We didn’t perform in the first half. We know we’re a better team than that. We came with it in the second half and ground out a result.”
