eir Sport And Premier Sports Secure TV Rights To Ireland’s Summer Tests

eir Sport have confirmed that they will have exclusive live coverage of Ireland’s three summer tour matches – the New Jersey opener against the USA and the two clashes with RWC 2019 pool opponents Japan – in the coming weeks.

Irish rugby fans should note that the eir Sport app is now compatible with Chromecast, giving eir broadband customers the ability to cast the eir Sport app directly to their television sets.

The announcement coincides with the news that eir Sport have secured the TV rights for Ireland’s upcoming games against the USA and Japan. Joe Schmidt’s men face the Eagles at New Jersey’s Red Bull Arena on Saturday, June 10 before flying to Japan for a two-Test series against one of their RWC 2019 pool opponents.

Ireland will line out against the hosts of the next World Cup at Ecopa Stadium in Shizuoka on Saturday, June 17, with the second Test taking place at Tokyo’s Ajinomoto Stadium a week later. The tour fixtures will give great insight into the emerging talent ahead of RWC 2019, which will be broadcast exclusively by eir Sport.

Glen Killane, Managing Director of eir TV & Sport, commented: “It’s a great day for eir broadband customers as we enhance the users’ experience of the eir Sport app by enabling sports fans to cast the eir Sport app directly to their TVs using a Chromecast device.

“Having this summer’s Irish rugby tour exclusively live shows our commitment to the game of rugby ahead of the RWC 2019. We are delighted to play our part in the build-up to what will be a highly anticipated World Cup and one we are delighted to have on eir Sport. We are also hugely excited for the Women’s Rugby World Cup later this summer and will be supporting the Women’s team as they hope to make history this August.

“The summer of content that we have announced today shows the diverse range of sport we are showing here at eir Sport and the focus we have on Irish-led sport. There is something there for everybody with international rugby and football, along with SSE Airtricity games, the World Rugby Under-20 Championship, GAA Club Championships, pre-season friendlies, UFC, boxing, motor sport and much more.

“As I have mentioned before, our ambition is to continue being Ireland’s number one sports broadcaster on TV and mobile and this ambition is only strengthened by today’s announcement and the exciting line-up we have this summer.”

eir Sport channels are available across the eir Vision, Sky and Vodafone TV platforms as well as on the eir Sport app. All 7 channels in the eir Sport pack are available for free if you are a residential eir broadband customer.

Meanwhile, Premier Sports in the UK will have exclusive live coverage of Ireland’s tour encounters with the US and Japan as Joe Schmidt looks to blood youth in with the intensity and physicality of Test rugby.
