Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour – Week 3

The Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour continued apace this week, moving from Leinster to Connacht and back again in a week packed with some fantastic festivals of rugby.

Last Sunday saw twelve teams participate in a Mini Women’s Rugby World Cup tournament at a sun-kissed Carton House. Ireland Women’s captain Niamh Briggs was on hand as the girls flew the flag for each of the participating countries.

Monday was the first stop on the Connacht leg of the tour with Scoil Bhríde in Tuam the first port of call. Ireland international Cliodhna Moloney visited her old school, the Mercy in Tuam, with the trophy along the way.
 

The trophy then moved on to Muire Gan Smal Primary School, Mount St. Michael Secondary School and Claremorris RFC that day.

Ballyhaunis and the Mercy College in Sligo played host on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday saw the trophy make a flying visit back to Dublin for the IRFU Under-19 Schools Sevens Festival in Terenure College RFC.
 

Friday will see Ballina hosting the trophy before another flying visit to Dublin on Saturday for the Women’s All-Ireland League final at Donnybrook.

Then it is back to Connacht next week for stops in Galwegians, Portumna and Westport amongst others.
