Ulster Bank League: Division 2B Previews

City of Derry came close to promotion last season. Can they go one step further this time around? It all kicks off on Saturday in Division 2B.

Bective Rangers v Armagh, Donnybrook
The home side finished 8^th last season with seven wins.

At times they flirted with the relegation zone so they’ll be hoping for a better showing.

Armagh finished 5^th so a top 4 this season should be their ambition. They won both games against Bective last season and should be good enough to kick off in a similar vein.

City of Derry v Skerries, Judge’s Road
A case of what might have been for City of Derry last season. The big question is can they learn from that disappointment and kick on?

Skerries are first up to test the waters having dropped down from D2B at the end of last season.

The County Dublin side will be hoping for a good start but they face one of the toughest tests.

Dungannon v MU Barnhall, Stevenson Park
Both clubs finished mid table last season within a point of each other.

Nine wins and nine losses each shows that they both have room for improvement.

Dungannon had a narrow win at home in November last year but MU Barnhall overturned that well in January.

Old Crescent v Greystones, Rosbrien
A tough opener for the promoted Limerick side against a Greystones side that lost out on promotion in the playoff final.

The Wicklow side have proved their mettle but will need to raise the bar again this season if they are to go one better.

Old Crescent only lost 3 matches last season and notched up 11 try bonuses. More of the same would suit but it will be a much tougher ask.

Wanderers v Thomond, Aviva Stadium Back Pitch
Wanderers beat Rainey Old Boys and Tullamore on the way to promotion from a 4^th placed finish last season.

If they can improve their win loss ratio they will be contenders again this season.

Thomond had a tough run last year with only three wins. A trip to Aviva Stadium may prove a tough one first up.
