23 players have been selected as part of the Ireland Girls Sevens national training squad which will take part in two one-day camps on August 14 and 27.
The Ireland Girls Sevens side that will compete in the Rugby Europe tournament in Vichy, France on September 10-11 will be selected after these camps.
The training squad was selected after the players competed for their provinces at two Interprovincial Sevens Blitzes in Westmanstown RFC and Tullamore RFC during the summer.
Speaking ahead of the camps, IRFU Sevens development coach Stan McDowell said: “There’s a very talented group of players going into these camps. They all showed a lot of potential at the sevens blitzes in Westmanstown and Tullamore so these camps will offer them all a chance to develop their skills further and work together as a team.
“The Women’s Sevens squad are now competing on the World Sevens Series for the second season in a row, so it is important that we continue to develop the next generation of Women’s rugby players in Ireland.”
