Con Seek To Retain Bateman Cup Ahead Of Ulster Bank League Final

Cork Constitution booked their spot in the Ulster Bank League Division 1A final with a hard-fought win over Young Munster at Temple Hill, but they have another chance of silverware this weekend as they take on Galwegians in the Bateman Cup decider.

Cork Constitution have won the Bateman Cup for the past three years (2013, 2014 and 2015) but will face a determined Galwegians side that were relegated from the top flight on points difference on the last day of the regular season.

Tickets for the Ulster Bank League final – on Sunday, May 8 (kick-off 2.30pm) at the Aviva Stadium – between Clontarf and Cork Con are available now via Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.ie. Adult tickets for the East and West Lower stands are available for €;10. Tickets for Under-18s are free but must be booked with an adult ticket.

Ballynahinch took a major step in retaining their top flight status at the weekend by defeating Buccaneers.  They will host Dublin University this Saturday at Ballymacarn Park with the winners taking the final spot in Division 1A for the 2016/17 season.

Blackrock College are also seeking to maintain their divisional status with UCC the team looking for elevation to a higher division. Both sides had convincing victories in their play-off semi-finals and the winners at Stradbrook on Saturday afternoon will secure a spot in Division 1B for next season.

Sunday’s Well join Highfield in Division 2A next season after defeating Greystones in the promotion play-off final. Wanderers beat Tullamore in a play-off final to join Old Crescent in Division 2B for the 2016/17 campaign.
