Ulster Bank League: Division 2A Previews

No change in the top 4 in Division 2A but Banbridge’s loss to Naas last weekend keeps things very interesting in the race for promotion.

Banbridge (1^st) v Skerries (8^th), Rifle Park
The Ireland captain’s home club will be looking for a big performance this weekend in Rifle Park.

Not only does Bestie lead Ireland this weekend but the Bann need to bounce back from the loss to Naas that leaves them just two points clear at the head of the table.

Skerries travel on the back of a big win over Corinthians that has them five points clear of the relegation zone.

Cashel (5^th) v UCC (3^rd), Spafields
Cashel’s win over Malone last time out keeps them in the hunt for a top four finish (level on points now with the Ulster side).

Saturday’s Munster derby sees them host a UCC side that have their own ambitions as they are just three points behind leaders Banbridge.

A big game for both clubs and a win either way will have a serious influence on the make up the final four.

Corinthians (10^th) v Nenagh Ormond (6^th), Corinthian Park
Corinthians shipped 21 points against Skerries last week and remain rooted to the bottom of the table – albeit they are just four points behind Thomond.

A win would be a big boost and would offer a lifeline to the struggling Galway club.

Visitors Nenagh Ormond were the only side to move up the table last Saturday  – thanks to their 29 – 10 win over Thomond. We can expect a similar result this weekend.

Queens (7^th) v Naas (2^nd), Dub Lane
The league is all about momentum and right now that is with Naas after their 16 – 5 win over table toppers Bandridge.

Queens come into this game having lost to UCC but they still have the ability to win big games – Cashel and Malone can attest to that of late.

A chance for the students to get back on track or for Naas to build on their momentum.

Thomond (9^th) v Malone (4^th), Liam Fitzgerald Park
Thomond took one step back last week in losing to Nenagh Ormond, having hauled in Skerries in the previous round.

The Limerick side can still move clear of the relegation zone but it’s a tough ask on Saturday.

Malone have lost their last three on the trot now and need a change in fortune if they are to hold onto their top four slot.
