Ulster Bank League: Division 2A Previews

Division 2A kicks off with a Friday Night Lights clash in Nenagh Ormond. The action continues on Saturday where match of the day has to be the visit of leaders Banbridge to second placed Naas in Forenaughts.

Nenagh Ormond (7^th) v Thomond (9^th), New Ormond Park, Friday Night Lights, 8pm
The home side had a good win over Malone in their last game but results in other games still saw them slip to 7^th.

They are twelve points ahead of their visitors on Saturday as Thomond fight to get out of the potential relegation zone.

A floodlight match in New Ormond Park should attract a decent crowd for what promises to be an interesting game.

Malone (4^th) v Cashel (5^th), Gibson Park
Malone’s second outing in as many games against Tipperary opposition but they’ll be aiming for a better outcome at home.

The 16 point loss to Nenagh Ormond saw them lose ground to UCC and leaves them just three points clear of visitors Cashel.

Malone won 29 – 18 when they visited Cashel in October. It may be tighter this time.

Naas (2^nd) v Banbridge (1^st), Forenaughts
2^nd hosts 1^st in Division 2A with a chance to close the six point gap that separates them.

The Bann won 11 – 0 back in October and on paper there’s little to choose between the two sides.

Naas could win this and still be in 2^nd but if they lose then UCC or Malone could overtake them.

Skerries (8^th) v Corinthians (10^th), Holmpatrick
Both teams have won three games but Skerries have earned a total of six bonus points (three try and three loosing) to just one for Corinthians.

That could be the key difference on Saturday.

A home win keeps the North County Dublin club clear of the danger zone and condemns the visitors.

UCC (3^rd) v Queens (6^th), Mardyke, 3pm
UCC bookended their loss to Banbridge with big wins over Thomond and Corinthians. They face a tough task on Saturday when Queens come to the Mardyke.

A home win could see them up to 2^nd in the table while a loss could see them overtaken by Malone.

An intriguing match with plenty at stake as the race for a promotion shot hots up.
