McKeon To Lead Connacht Eagles Against Dragons Select

Connacht Eagles will face the Newport Gwent Dragons Premiership Select in their opening game of the British & Irish Cup at the Sportsground on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).

With Connacht’s senior squad in Russia for the European Challenge Cup and a growing list of injuries, Eagles head coach Nigel Carolan has named a youthful side, with lock Ben Marshall the only senior player included on his return from injury.

The remainder of the matchday squad is made up of Academy and club players. 21-year-old Academy out-half Conor McKeon, who kicked 23 points in last week’s win over Leinster ‘A’, will captain the westerners for the 2.30pm kick-off.

The Clan Bar will be open and all Connacht Rugby Seasion Ticket holders have free entry to the game. Under-12s are also free and it is just €;5 for all other tickets.

CONNACHT EAGLES (v Dragons Premiership Select): Ciaran Gaffney; Adam Leavy, Cormac Brennan, Ed O’Keeffe, Jack Keegan; Conor McKeon (capt), Conor Lowndes; Jacob Walshe, Pat O’Toole, Saba Meunargia, Cian Romaine, Ben Marshall, Marc Kelly, Rory Moloney, Stephen McVeigh.
