Stars Of The Future Shine At Bangor’s Floodlit Festival

The weather was kind for this year’s Bangor Mini Rugby Floodlit Festival which was held at Upritchard Park on Saturday evening.

A total of nine different clubs were represented at the annual Bangor Mini Rugby Festival, coming from as far afield as Ballymena, Lurgan, Ballyclare and Lisburn. Despite the conditions, thankfully dry but wet underfoot, there was plenty of running rugby with more than a few potential stars of the future on show.

Standing in for Bangor RFC President John Langtry, Jim Lacey extended a very warm welcome to over 250 players, coaches and parents who were in attendance at Upritchard Park.

The nominated charity at this year’s festival was Hope4Ellsa, who fund the medical investigation and care for Ellsa Alexander-Adams who has severe epilepsy which began at just seven-weeks-old. Ellsa’s parents Aaron and Leanne also attended the festival to help collect much-needed funds for her ongoing treatment. For more information, please visit www.justgiving.com/Hope4Ellsa/.

The organisers would like to take the opportunity to thank all the coaches and players for making this event something special in the Mini rugby calendar as it is one of the only opportunities the kids get to play under floodlights.

The event would not be able to take place without the help and assistance of the headline sponsor Eurospar, co-sponsors Nickell & Richmond and TDK Property Consultants.

Needless to say, the parent volunteers, referees, coaches, groundskeepers and staff at the club also deserve huge thanks, and their efforts are very much appreciated.
