IRFU Shortlisted For Two Sports Industry Awards

The IRFU was today shortlisted for two prestigious 2015 Sport Industry Awards, organised by the Federation of Irish Sport.

The two categories are Best Use of Social Media and Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative in Sport.

In the Social Media category, the IRFU’s #ShouldertoShoulder campaign that built support online for the Ireland team in the build-up to and during the Rugby World Cup has been shortlisted alongside campaigns from Cricket Ireland, Ladies Gaelic Football Association, Great Dublin Bike Ride and Cabinteely FC.

#ShouldertoShoulder was launched in November 2014 as the official hashtag for the Ireland team and used across the IRFU digital platforms to drive support for the team and to create a cohesive community for people to support the team.

In the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative category, the IRFU has been shortlisted for its work with Pieta House on the ‘Mind Ur Buddy’ campaign, alongside eir – Special Olympics Ireland team, FAI – IPB Late Night Leagues, and GAA – Healthy Clubs.

The project was designed to raise awareness of mental health issues in clubs and to equip club members with the skills to recognise the signs of depression amongst team-mates.

The Sport Industry Awards are intended to recognise and reward excellence in the business of sport whilst highlighting the contribution of sport to Ireland Inc.

An experienced and knowledgeable judging panel, drawn from the sport and business communities, will determine the winners of the inaugural Sport Industry Awards to be held on Thursday, November 5 at the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin.
