Leinster Report A ‘Near Clean Bill Of Health’

After training yesterday, Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has reported a near clean bill of health ahead of this Sunday’s GUINNESS PRO12 match away to Benetton Treviso.

Hooker Aaron Dundon will go through the return-to-play protocols this week after sustaining a knock to the head during the win over Glasgow Warriors last Friday. His inclusion for this weekend will be determined later in the week.

Other than long-term absentees Ed Byrne and Mick Kearney, the rest of the Leinster squad are in good condition.

All of the players who featured for Ireland at the Rugby World Cup have reported back to the province and took part in light training yesterday. These players are being assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Out-half Jonathan Sexton, who missed Ireland’s quarter-final defeat to Argentina with an adductor strain, did some light training and looks set to return in blue against the Scarlets next week.

Speaking on Tuesday, Leinster scrum coach John Fogarty said: “Johnny will be managed through the week. It’s day one so he would have been assessed today and will continue to be assessed. He had a light run-out on the field.

“Everyone seems to have come through. We’re blessed. You’d feel sorry for Ulster (with their injuries). Our guys performed quite well (in the World Cup). They’re disappointed that they didn’t go further but we’re delighted for them to come back in what appears to be good nick.”
