The Ireland Women’s squad, coached by Tom Tierney, will play an autumn international against England at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday, November 14 (kick-off 3pm).
The Ireland Women, who are hosting an open training session at Kingspan Stadium this Saturday, will take on World champions England as part of the build-up to the 2016 Women’s RBS 6 Nations.
Ireland, the reigning Women’s RBS 6 Nations champions, defeated England 11-8 in their last encounter in Ashbourne back in February.
Speaking about the upcoming match, Anthony Eddy, IRFU Director of Women’s and Sevens Rugby, said: “The match against England in November will be used as preparation for the squad leading into the 2016 Six Nations.
“The national Women’s 15s programme are now preparing as a squad much earlier in the season than what they have done in the past, and the opportunity to play a Test match against England is fantastic for the development of the squad.
“England remain the Women’s World champions and are the benchmark for many national teams – this match will provide us with the opportunity to look at some potential players in a higher standard of competition.”
Ireland’s clash with England will kick off at 3pm at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday, November 14, and will be streamed live on www.englandrugby.com.
