Next Beach Stop, Strandhill

It is just over three weeks to go before teams take to the sands of Culleenamore Beach, Strandhill, Co.Sligo for Volkswagen Beach Tag

A true sign of summer having arrived, the return to the shores of Portstewart and Strandhill in June and July respectively, will see teams from leagues all over Ireland take part in Volkswagen Beach Tag.

Costing just rrp €;175. This works out at less than €;15 for the day for each player in a typically-sized team.

Beach Tag is exactly as it sounds. Tag rugby played on a beach. The entire competition takes place in one day, usually a saturday and runs from around midday until later afternoon, depending on the tides that day.

A Beach Tag side comprises of five players instead of seven as in normal Tag rugby. Rest of the laws of Tag apply the same however with the exception of games being shorter in duration due to the amount played over an entire festival.

With the music up nice and loud, the games get under way until the finals determine the placings and who wins what. After the games, its back to a selected venue for the prize giving and festival party til the early hours.

Hugely popular events getting busier each summer, Beach Tag festivals are the excellent and fun weekend away for you and your team.
