Only points difference separated Ireland, England and Wales on the morning of Saturday, March 21, with staggered kick-offs adding to the drama as fans could watch each team set a target for the next. 
 
Wales set the tone with an incredible second half performance in Rome.

Winning by 41 points (Italy 20 Wales 61) and setting a marker for Ireland and England.
 
Next, Ireland went to Murrayfield and notched up a 40-10 victory – equalling their biggest winning margin away from home in the Championship – thereby setting England the target of a 27-point triumph.
 
All eyes turned to Twickenham for a nail-biting finale. England had no choice but all-out attack and they delivered, building up an emphatic tally of 55 points to the French haul of 35.

In a bizarre and exhilarating end game, the French ultimately left a desperate England just shy of their target. ‘Super Saturday’ lived up to its billing with a record 221 points and 27 tries scored.
