Play Rugby For Active Schools Week

Rugby is the perfect sport for Active Shools Week – there is a variation of the game to suit all schools and all ages, including Tag, Touch and Sevens.

This week Ireland stars Niamh Briggs, Jenny Murphy, Hannah Tyrrell, Katie Fitzhenry and Nora Stapleton visited the the Leinster Girls Sevens tournament to highlight Active Schools Week and encourage everyone to try rugby.

Schools can include one of the many variations of rugby in theri PE curriculum or after schools activites.

The IRFU provides advice and practical help to primary schools through our PLAY RUGBY programme, while secondary schools can choose from the various forms of non-contact and contact rugby including Tag, Touch, Sevens, 10s and 15-a-side.

There is also a specific Girls Rugby programme called Play Rugby Girls. With a game and position suitable for everyone, rugby really is the perfect fit for Active Schools Week.

Schools can contact their local branch office for more information.
