Moore Set For Shoulder Surgery And Three Month Lay-Off

Young prop Martin Moore will miss the rest of Leinster’s season after a scan on his injured left shoulder showed that he will need surgery.

A keyhole procedure will take place next Monday morning for a labral repair to Martin Moore’s left shoulder which will keep him sidelined for 12 weeks.

Moore damaged his shoulder during last Sunday’s European Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Toulon. It will be his second shoulder operation of the season after he missed the GUINNESS Series in November with a similar injury.

He tweeted earlier today: “Disappointing to end a season this way but thankful for the opportunities I’ve had and feel incredibly privileged to be a part of this team.”

The 24-year-old was Ireland’s back-up tighthead throughout the 2014 and 2015 RBS 6 Nations title-winning campaigns, coming on for Mike Ross in all 10 games.

Following his rehab period, Moore will be aiming to return to action during Ireland’s Rugby World Cup warm-up matches in August and September when they face Wales (home and away), Scotland (home) and England (away).
