Ulster Prop Ross Signs One-Year Extension

Tighthead prop Bronson Ross has signed a one-year contract extension with Ulster Rugby. The 29 year-old joined the province from Coventry in the summer of 2013. His first season was cut short due to a neck injury and he played just one game.

However, Bronson Ross has represented the province 15 times during the current 2014/15 campaign and has now established himself as an important member of the playing squad.

Ross was born in Oamaru, New Zealand, but is Irish-qualified as his mother is from Belfast.

Commenting on his contract extension, he said: “I am delighted to be extending my stay at Ulster Rugby. I have really enjoyed my time in Belfast so far and I’m excited about the next 12 months ahead.

“However, we still have a lot to aim for this season and I will be looking to play my part in helping the team secure a top four spot in the GUINNESS PRO12.”

Ulster team manager Bryn Cunningham added: “Bronson is an excellent individual to have in the Ulster senior ranks. Aside from acquitting himself excellently as a back-up to Wiehahn Herbst for much of this season and showing considerable improvement throughout the year in his all-round game, he is also a very positive influence and popular member of the squad.

“Turning 30 next season, Bronson shows that as a tighthead prop, late developers can really excel if they put in the hard work and have the right attitude. Extending for another season gives Bronson the opportunity to consolidate his position and to continue to improve.”
