Boyle Confirmed As Connacht’s Head Of Operations

Connacht Rugby have announced that CEO of Mountaineering Ireland, Karl Boyle, has been appointed to the role of Head of Operations with the province.

Prior to joining the national governing body for mountaineering in 2010 where he developed and implemented significant operational plans, Karl Boyle served more than 12 years with the Defence Forces. His experiences include service with the United Nations in Liberia and with the European Union Force in Bosnia.

Boyle is a graduate of commerce from NUI Galway and has a masters in business administration from Dublin City University. A native of Claremorris, he is a former Mayo inter-county footballer and captained successful teams at both underage and senior level for Claremorris GAA club. He also played rugby at underage level for Newbridge RFC.

Announcing the appointment, Connacht Rugby CEO Willie Ruane said: “We are delighted to have Karl on board with Connacht Rugby. There was significant interest in this position and we are delighted to have found a candidate of Karl’s calibre for what will be a challenging and exciting role.

“Karl’s experience as a leader with Mountaineering Ireland and his impressive exploits with the Defence Forces means that he will be a huge addition to our organisation. He is passionate about Connacht Rugby and about our vision for the future.”

Boyle, who will take up his position with Connacht in late March, commented: “I am delighted to be taking up this position with Connacht Rugby. It is an exciting time on the pitch and it is important that off the field operations strive for the same level of excellence.

“I want to support the CEO in delivering on Connacht Rugby’s vision and to ensure that all supporters and visitors have a quality and unique experience when they come to see their team play.”
