Leinster ‘A’ Away To Worcester In B&I Cup Semi-Finals

Following a draw by the British & Irish Cup Organising Committee on Sunday, the 2014/15 semi-finals has been revealed.

The line-up shows English Championship table toppers Worcester Warriors welcome current title holders Leinster ‘A’ to Sixways on March 13-15, while Bristol travel to Castle Park, home of Doncaster Knights.
 
Leinster ‘A’ remain on course to retain the trophy for a third consecutive year after beating Rotherham Titans 32-51 at Clifton Lane last month. Their passage through to the semi-finals came amid a bumper weekend for the province, who also progressed through to the knockout stages of the European Champions Cup.
 
Worcester, meanwhile, will take confidence from their current league position which shows the club sitting top of the table for the first time since the season began, following Bristol’s defeat at Cornish Pirates.

The Warriors have scored 30 more points in the league than their nearest rivals, who also progressed to the British & Irish Cup semi-finals following a 41-28 win over Yorkshire Carnegie at Ashton Gate.
 
The West Country side join Leinster ‘A’ as the only other semi-finalists to have lifted the British & Irish Cup, claiming victory over Bedford Blues at the Memorial Stadium back in 2011.

Prior to Sunday’s result, Andy Robinson’s men had enjoyed a 19-game winning run in all competitions, having last lost in the Championship final last June. 
 
Finally, despite a losing run in the league table, English Championship newcomers Doncaster will compete in the B&I Cup semi-finals for the second time since the competition began.

The Yorkshire side made their return to the second tier this season after promotion from National League One, and will be hoping to go one better than their last showing in the B&I Cup knockout stages in 2010, losing 43-5 to eventual winners Cornish Pirates.
