Ulster Bank League: Division 2B Previews

Not unlike Division 2A, Highfield have a solid lead in Division 2B – nine points clear of Tullamore. The action kicks off on Friday night with Bruff at home to Old Crescent.

Bruff (7^th) v Old Crescent (8^th), Kilballyowen Park, Friday Night Lights, 7.30pm
The end of season carve up of Division 2B  – the top four only retain their status with the rest dropping to Division 2C – means that every game counts in mid table.

Both sides are within two wins of the top four so this floodlit game is vital.

Level on 24 points, there’s not much to separate them. A home win?

DLSP (13^th) v Armagh (6^th), Kirwan Park
‘Salmo took a big beating at Highfield last weekend, but results elsewhere saw them static in 13^th

Armagh’s narrow loss at home last weekend put a dent in their ambitions.

The Ulster side should bounce back this weekend with an away win.

Midleton (5^th) v Highfield (1^st), Towns Park
Match of the day in Division 2B? It is certainly a contender.

Midleton are just outside the top four and a win would keep them well in contention. It would also haul Highfield back. That said, the unbeaten league leaders are in irresistible form.

Richmond (15^th) v Boyne (14^th), Richmond Park
Two clubs are relegated at the end of the season so this definitely has a whiff of dogfight about it.

Boyne’s win over Sligo last weekend was a timely boost while Richmond took a thumping from Greystones.

Saturday could well prove decisive with several games left to play.

Sligo (9^th) v Navan (11^th), Hamilton Park
Mid table with only three points between them, this game is set up nicely and finely balanced.

Both clubs lost last weekend – Sligo on the road to Boyne and Navan at home to Bruff.

Home advantage will be key and the weather will be a huge factor in the shadow of Knocknarea.

Tullamore (2^nd) v Greystones (4^th), Spollanstown
Another Match of The Day contender with plenty at stake and clubs waiting to pounce.

Tullamore’s unexpected loss to Kanturk means that Greystones are within two points after their huge 82 point haul last weekend.

Not quite winner takes all but a key game for the division.

Wanderers (12^th) v Ards (16^th), Aviva Stadium Back Pitch
Wanderers’ loss to Old Crescent last weekend saw them slip to 12^th place in the table.

Ards are rooted to the bottom of the table. You’d have to go for a home win in this one.
