Injury Woe For Jackson And Olding

Ulster have today confirmed that young backs Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding are both expected to be sidelined for up to twelve weeks after sustaining elbow injuries against Toulon last Saturday.

Paddy Jackson suffered a dislocated elbow during the 60-22 European Champions defeat away to defending champions Toulon.

A scan yesterday revealed that he has an unstable joint and that he will require surgery. He is expected to be out of rugby for between ten and twelve weeks.

That means Jackson, who turned 23 earlier this month, will miss some key games in Ulster’s GUINNESS PRO12 campaign as well as Ireland’s RBS 6 Nations title defence.

His provincial colleague Stuart Olding (pictured above), who made a try-scoring home debut for Ireland in November, will also be unavailable for Ulster and Ireland over the next couple of months.

Olding sustained an elbow injury against Toulon and a scan has confirmed that he has significant ligament damage that will require surgery to repair. Like Jackson, he is expected to be out for between ten and twelve weeks.

Meanwhile, fellow back Louis Ludik suffered a fractured rib against Toulon. It is anticipated that he will be back playing before the end of February.
