Clancy And Lacey To Referee In Rugby Championship

Ireland’s George Clancy and John Lacey will take charge of games in the forthcoming Rugby Championship.

The International Rugby Board has announced the match official appointments for the 2014 Rugby Championship and also the upcoming 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.

John Lacey will take charge of the opening game between South Africa and Argentina at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, August 16.

George Clancy will be in charge when Australia play South Africa in the third round of matches in September.

The appointments were made by the IRB Match Official Selection Committee at its meeting in New Zealand and follow a detailed review of recent performances during the recent June Tests and IRB tournaments.

The appointments for the 12 Championship fixtures feature a blend of northern and southern Hemisphere match officials selected on form.
