The most notable absentee from the selected squad is scrum half Amy Davis who is ruled out through injury.

Niamh Briggs, Lynne Cantwell and Grand Slam-winning captain Fiona Coghlan are also named in the training squad.

The Ireland Women face defending champions New Zealand, USA and Kazakhstan in Pool B of the Women’s World Cup.

The girls in green kick off the tournament against the USA on Friday. August 1. Next up is New Zealand on Tuesday, August 5 with their final pool game against Kazakhstan on Saturday, August 9.

Head coach Philip Doyle commented: “Over the coming months we will host a number of training camps in preparation for the World Cup.
