Shoulder Surgery Rules O’Mahony Out For Rest Of Season

Munster and Ireland flanker Peter O’Mahony underwent reconstructive shoulder surgery this morning, having been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Peter O’Mahony travelled to Dublin late yesterday evening for a review with the specialist, and following the consultation it was confirmed that the Munster captain required surgery on his left shoulder.

O’Mahony sustained the injury in the opening 20 minutes of Munster’s 47-23 victory over Toulouse on Saturday after he over-extended his shoulder.

A Six Nations winner last month, the 24-year-old is set to miss the closing stages of Munster’s Heineken Cup and RaboDirect PRO12 campaigns as well as Ireland’s summer tour of Argentina.
