Munster Off To Marseille In Last-Four

Munster will travel to the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille on Sunday, April 27 to play defending champions Toulon in the Heineken Cup semi-final.

Toulon secured a 29-14 victory over Leinster at the Stade Félix Mayol today, as hopes of an all-Irish semi-final in Dublin were dashed.

Munster now face their second successive Heineken Cup semi-final on French soil. Last year they had a real crack at Clermont Auvergne before finishing on the wrong side of a tight 16-10 verdict.

In three weeks’ time Rob Penney’s men, who thumped Toulouse 47-23 in Limerick yesterday, will return to France to tackle a power-packed Toulon side.

The teams last met in the 2010/11 Heineken Cup pool stages when Munster were knocked out of the competition after a 32-16 defeat at the Stade Félix Mayol.

The Stade Vélodrome in Marseille is a 41,000-capacity stadium and will host the semi-final clash on Sunday, April 27 at 4.30pm local time/3.30pm Irish time.

The Heineken Cup semi-finals are managed by ERC with the competing sides receiving an equal allocation of tickets which the ERC will confirm once all commitments are finalised.

As always, these tickets will be distributed through the Munster rugby clubs and the Munster Rugby Supporters Club.
